Dear Board of Health Member or County Commissioner:
We are pleased to invite you to be part of an organization committed to serving the members of local Boards of Health (governing or advisory) and County Commissioners who oversee local public health agencies. The Missouri Association of Local Boards of Health (MALBOH) was organized to serve the mutual interests of its members in the areas of training, professional networking, and policy analysis.
MALBOH is a committee of the Missouri Association of Local Public Health Agencies (MoALPHA). With staff support from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and MoALPHA, the formation committee developed a strategic plan and operating guidelines for MALBOH in 2008-2009. In 2013, MALBOH had 281 members representing 52 counties and cities.
We invite you to join MALBOH, and to consider serving on the steering committee. Annual dues are modest ($25 per individual board/commission member, or $100 to cover all board members from a participating health department).
We are pleased that Missouri has an association dedicated to the needs of local health board members. Twelve other states have similar organizations, and through networking and our affiliation with the National Association of Local Boards of Health, we can learn from each other. MALBOH plays an important role in developing and maintaining public health services that are responsive to community needs.
Sincerely,
Diane Weber
Executive Director
