State Representative Quitting for Blunt Administration Post
State Representative Jodi Stefanik of Manchester has announced she is resigning her seat in the General Assembly to accept a position in the Blunt Administration. Stefanik, who has served in a number of healthcare-related positions in the Legislature, is moving into the Administration as a Healthcare Advisor to the Governor. Her resignation will take place upon adjournment of the Special Session and Veto Session of the Legislature next month. At that time she will move into her new position as Senior Healthcare Policy Advisor.
Emergency Officials Take Part in "Dirty Bomb" Drill
State officials practice for a terrorist attack they're not even sure would happen in Missouri. Missouri's emergency management, law enforcement, and disaster relief officials practiced a scenario in which terrorists set off "dirty bombs" in St. Louis and Kansas City. Dirty bombs are conventional bombs that have radioactive material in them. State Emergency Management Agency Director Ron Reynolds says most people might not think of Missouri as a terrorist target, but this state needs to be ready - just in case. Federal officials observing the exercise say Missouri is doing well in its response. They would not characterize this state's chances of actually seeing an attack.
