October 21, 2011 Special Session As it currently stands Missouri will have both a presidential primary and a caucus in 2012. Efforts to delete this duplication were defeated Monday afternoon in the Senate on a 16-16 tie vote. Senator Engler castigated the Senate for not fixing this situation. Senator Mayer President Pro Tem also declined to go to a conference committee to negotiate the differences between the House and Senate on the economic development bill. There are rumors that backroom discussions are taking place. However at this juncture the Senate has stopped deliberations. General Revenue numbers declined 1/5 % from last September of last year. However, state income tax and sales tax were up 2.2% and 3.1%. This encouraging news still must be kept in perspective as revenues are still lower than 2007. |
