Secretary Of State Approves Initiative Petitions To Eliminate State Income Taxes
Supporters can now start circulating initiative petitions that would amend the state constitution to eliminate state income taxes and impose an expanded state sales tax. Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan announced that before these petitions can be brought before voters in the November 2012 election, signatures must be obtained from registered voters equal to 8 percent of the total votes cast in the 2008 governor’s election from six of the state’s nine congressional districts.

Proponents have already started a major media campaign citing Tennessee as a non state income tax state.
