Governor Approves Changes In Public Vote, Notice Standards
Gov. Jay Nixon has signed House Bill 1444 and Senate Bill 851 into law. Each of the bills includes language requiring the governing board of a county, city, town or village, or one of its subsidiary entities, to give four days notice of a public meeting to vote on a tax increase, use of eminent domain or creation of various development districts or plans. A public meeting to hear public comment must precede such a vote.
